Thoughtful, lengthy, seamless.
The province of Benevento (also the name of the city) in Campania is home to Fontanavecchia. It is a landlocked place northeast of Naples, where vines have long been cultivated. Fontanavecchia was established in the early 1900s by the Rillo family, who continue to manage it.
Made from the Aglianico grape, which has DOCGs in Taurasi (in the province of Avellino) and Aglianico del Talburno (in Benevento, which was designated in 2011) this outstanding red was aged 12 months in one year old French casks. It delivers intense black fruits and cherry, vanilla, dark chocolate and baking spices to the nose. Fresh and seamless with smooth tannins and cherry and carob flavours--it is a thoughtful and lengthy wine.
